Support from Village of Thornton

Illinois Gaming Board,

The Village of Thornton is adding our letter of support for the application which will locate a proposed south suburban casino site in East Hazel Crest and Homewood.

This proposed Four-Diamond, 70,000 square foot project located off of I-80 at Halsted Street is a prime location for the nearly 80 million vehicles that pass by it each year to access. Besides the 1,300 slot machines and 56 gaming tables, the project also includes a 252 room hotel, feature entertainment and dining. This would bring 800 permanent jobs as well as construction jobs to the citizens and businesses and serve as an economic stimulus to the region.

We have successfully partnered with both East Hazel Crest and Homewood on a variety of regional issues and continue to work with both communities as members of E-COM and South Suburban Mayors and Managers. We believe the Villages of East Hazel Crest and Homewood to be two strong stable and diverse communities who have long-serving mayors with a history of working together to bring success to the area.

On behalf of the Village Board, I confirm our commitment to fully support the Wind Creek Hospitality application to the Illinois State Gaming Board to develop a casino and entertainment destination in the suburbs of East Hazel Crest and Homewood.
