To whom it may concern,

I am writing in support of Wind Creek Hospitality’s application to develop a casino in East Hazel Crest and Homewood.

Serving as State Senator from Illinois’ 15th District since 2013, I know that East Hazel Crest and Homewood are two strong, stable and diverse communities. Mayors Brown and Hofeld have been long serving, reputable leaders of their communities – leading since 1989 and 1997, respectively.

This is the best location in the south suburbs for a casino. Nearly 80 million vehicles pass by the proposed site adjacent to I-80 each year. This easy-to-access location creates a solid foundation for the proposed quality, “four diamond” casino and entertainment complex – one that will maximize revenue and draw significant out-of-state visitors on a continuing basis from across the border in Indiana.

That, paired with an operator – Wind Creek Hospitality – that has a stellar reputation and a proven track record of success, makes me confident that they will respect our community and ensure that this facility operates in a responsible and professional manner. Wind Creek has made strong commitments to local hiring, minority vendors and has created a Southland Public Benefit Fund to provide support to the community. The Fund will partner with Moraine Valley Community College, South Suburban College, Prairie State College, the Ingalls Development Foundation and Advocate South Suburban hospital to distribute funds – a goal to distribute $1 million annually after the first five years of operation.

I’m proud to support this outstanding proposal from my district.

Sincerely,

Napoleon B. Harris, III
