Grounds Technician II

SHIFT: Monday - Friday  6:00AM-2:30PM

Job Overview:

The Grounds Technician II performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures as directed on grounds, turf grass, pavements, walkways, amphitheater, ponds, swimming pools and fountains.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completes all work outdoors and some tasks may be performed regardless of weather conditions
  • Completes all work while exposed to loud noises, dirt, dust, tobacco smoke and foul odors
  • Maintains, cleans and dresses the facility and grounds including pools, building’s exterior, outside structures and parkway areas
  • Applies chemicals, as directed to clarify and sanitize swimming pools, brushes and cleans all pool surfaces
  • Work is characterized by the necessity for considerable physical exertion, by close daily contact with unpleasant materials
  • Work involves heavy lifting and exposure to fumes, chemicals and other noxious odors, machinery with moving parts and noise
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Job Requirements: (please ensure you meet the listed requirements prior to applying)

  • High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within six (6) months from start date as a condition of continued employment
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
  • Three (3) years of Commercial or Municipal grounds maintenance and/or landscaping experience– required
  • Must hold one (1) of the three (3) following credentials granted by the State of Alabama– required
    • Setting of Landscape Plants– (SLP) State of Alabama license
    • Ornamental Turf and Pest Control – (OTPC/OTPS)
    • Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT/CLIA/CGIA/CIC/CID/CLIWM)
    • Landscape Horticulturist – (LD) Landscape design
    • OR other state’s certification of equivalence to Alabama’s.  Candidate will be required to obtain Al certification within six (6) months of hire date
  • Must have good hearing and eyesight
  • Must have ability to read, write and understand English
  • Willing to work odd and irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required
  • Must have a valid and current State Driver’s License and an insurable driving record for purposes of driving company vehicles as required
  • Must have a Tribal Gaming License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) is required for this position
  • Must have willingness and ability to work in a smoke/secondary smoke environment
